Planting Promise has been providing education to Sierra Leone’s slum children since 2008. In 2011 we opened another school in one of the country’s most remote villages. Today we have over 700 children enrolled at our free community schools!
Our children are from some of the poorest backgrounds in the world and we are working to give them a pathway out of poverty.
We’ve had a lot of success providing and improving the education for our 700 students, but unfortunately education alone is not enough. Now we need your help to take the next step.
We asked our kids…
“What’s your favourite thing about Planting Promise?”
“When I went to government school, I stayed at home a lot to look after my baby sister and help my mum. She said I don’t learn at the government school anyway. I love my Planting Promise school because I learn lots and now my mum sends me to school every day.”
“I love my Planting Promise school because there’s only 26 pupils in my class, which is very small. We’re all friends and we all study hard with Mr Sherif. Sometimes we study on Saturdays to have extra help before our examinations, which is very helpful.”
Every child deserves a safe and fun place to learn and play; that’s why we are renovating and expanding our Freetown primary school. Our Building Promise project is underway with the help of the Prince’s Foundation. Find out our next steps
Our rural school is undergoing a drastic transformation in 2017. By upgrading the school’s infrastructure and introducing critical food programs, we are improving the quality of life for Sierra Leone’s most vulnerable children.
Working with our growing community, we founded Welbodi Gari, an nutritious packaged snack food in lots of different flavours!

Thanks to the support of our generous donors and supporters, we are transforming the lives of the poorest communities in Sierra Leone. We want to keep you updated so you can see how your donation makes a difference.
Planting Promise is different – we offer a new model of sustainable change, empowering people to believe that more is possible and that they can make the difference themselves.”
